Adding Light Streak

We're going to look at how to add colorful streaks of light to a photo.

Step 1: First open an image. I use this photo from http://www.sxc.hu

Step 2: Create a new layer.
Select the Pel Tool. You can also press the letter P to select it with the keyboard shortcut.
Then select the "Paths" option in the options bar.

Step 3: Draw a path where you want the first light streak to appear.

I am drawing the rest of my first path by clicking and dragging a couple more times with the Pen Tool to add the rest of my path segments.

Step 4: Select the brush tool. Press F5 for Brush Presets and in the Brush Tip Shap select the 40 Sampled Tip brush, Diameter 30px and spacing 1%.

Now in Shape Dynamic, set the brush size control to "Pen Pressure".

Step 5: Press 'X' to set your foreground color to white.

Step 6: Click on the Paths palette. Now save Your Path. Simply double-click on the name "Work Path" and Photoshop will pop up the Save Path dialog box, with the suggested name of "Path 1" already entered for you. Click OK to exit out of the dialog box and Photoshop will ename the path "Path 1". The path is now saved:
